Kids’ efforts help at gala
Water guns, face paint and carnival-style games made for a buzzing atmosphere at the Matamata Primary School Gala on Friday.
Principal Carolyn Osbourne said the gala was a huge success, with hundreds turning out.
Year 5 and 6 students designed and ran their own small enterprises, ranging from ‘‘guess the number of lollies in the jar’’ to ‘‘smash the water bombs’’.
Any profits the students made will go straight back into their classrooms.
A silent auction, bouncy castles and pony rides also kept the crowds busy.
Nicola Stewart went along.
