Put the fun into fundraising fun run

-

The Matamata College sports committee is holding its fifth biennial fun run/ walk on Friday, March 15, with the first athletes heading off promptly at 6pm.

The course starts and ends in the college grounds and the circuit is around the surrounding streets.

The fun run has proved a very successful and enjoyable family event and appeals to a wide range of people from the serious athlete to the person wanting to embark on some initial fitness at a manageable pace.

The move to an evening start time is ideal for winter sports teams to incorporate it as a team building exercise.

For those who compete in the J Swap Matamata Chronicle Tower Run on March 8, this event can be looked upon as maintaining a level of fitness or using it to build on.

All participants go into a draw to win some fantastic prizes and there are plenty of spot prizes for those who enter into the wacky categories by wearing a novelty hat, sox or fancy dress.

The sports committee are most grateful for the major sponsorship received from Mitre 10, Metso Minerals, Matamata Medical Centre, Matamata Directional Drilling and Candy Gillespie plus numerous other local business operators who have supported financially or with vouchers or products.

The Medical Centre will be promoting a ‘‘ perspiration not prescription’’ message with their presence.

Entry forms can be obtained through the college or on the website www. matamatacollege. school.nz or at Mitre 10. The cost its $10 an adult and $5 a student with late penalty fee applying after March 8.

Event proceeds will go towards upgrading equipment across all codes in the new re- furbished college gym.

Circle it on your calendar and get your entry forms in.
