Beer,

So the Matamata Piako District Sports Awards are over for another year.

Looking through all the nominations was a real eye-opener for me.

I was amazed by the sheer variety of sport and the high standards achieved by so many in the community.

It also highlighted the valuable support provided by so many volunteers.

A Sport Waikato initiative lets you recognise these volunteers or sport makers throughout the year simply by nominating them at sportwaikato. org. nz/ nominate_ your_volunteers.cfm.

Nominees receive a card entitling them to special offers at businesses around the district and go into a monthly draw to win awesome sports prizes.

What a great way to say thank you.

Holiday Activity Tips – only one month to go.

Drink plenty of water and drink alcohol sensibly.

Buy active toys for your children then get outside and play with them.

Plan active things to do as a family – try a new bike trail or walk.

Plan 30 minutes for yourself each day – exercise is a great way to reduce holiday stress.

If you are finding it hard to get motivated make a New Year Resolution to ask about the Sport Waikato Green Prescription three month support programme.

The Sport Waikato Office will be closed from December 23, reopening on January 6.
