Master nails industry award

40 years in building recognised

-

Matamata’s Kevin Stanley has been recognised for nearly 40 years of dedication to the construction industry with a life membership to the Registered Master Builders Association.

The award was presented to Stanley by national president David Fabish at the association’s conference on June 5.

In presenting the award, Fabish said Stanley had a straight shooting and direct style, and strong commercial skills as well as a consumer and member perspective.

‘‘He led Master Build Services during the most trying of circumstances into the commercial and profitable business it is today.’’

Stanley said one of the highlights of his involvement with the Master Builders had been helping the Master Build Service, which gives an insurance guarantee on houses, become a financially successful group and provide its first dividend at the end of last year.

Stanley, who is the managing director of The Stanley Group, has also been involved in helping to create the Master Builders’ House of the Year competition.

He also had a hand in starting the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation, which is the largest ITO in New Zealand.

In presenting the award, Fabish said there was no- one more deserving of the life membership award and Stanley had worked his way up from the bottom.

He began his working career as an apprentice carpenter with Stanley Construction in 1978.

In 1982 he became site foreman and in 1986 he travelled overseas
