Pohlen support

-

On behalf of the trustees of the Pohlen Foundation Trust I would like to thank our entire community for the extremely generous support we have received during our 2013-14 financial year in our fundraising efforts for Pohlen.

The foundation has raised a very credible $215,157.

‘‘The Pohlen Foundation Trust’s purpose is to support Pohlen Hospital Trust Board by fundraising for equipment, facilities, amenities, services and know-how for Pohlen Hospital, as identified by the board in consultation with the Pohlen Hospital Trust Board,’’ as quoted from our trust deed.

We were able to support many and varied projects at Pohlen and still save [$73,360] for the capital works associated with the construction of a new wing.

Of the $113,125 provided to the hospital board for projects this last year:

$27,450 assisted with the purchase of eight items of medical equipment;

$4700 supported the salary of the co-ordinator of the outdoor exercise facility;

$29,331 was for the purchase of the Burlodge food service unit;

$3644 assisted with the purchase of furniture with a focus on a family-friendly area for patients’ visitors;

$40,000 was for the kitchen refurbishment and new equipment; and,

$8000 was for the installation of a new television in each patient room as well as providing wi-fi throughout the ward.

In our current financial year we have already pumped significant funds into the ward refurbishment so that curtains could be replaced and the ward entirely painted, and we continue to support the Pohlen outdoor exercise and rehabilitation facility programme which is free to anyone in our community.

We take the time to host groups here at Pohlen.

We feel it is important as many people as possible know about Pohlen; the services we provide and the impact this has on our community and ultimately why Pohlen needs our support.

So thank you one and all; your collective support means we can provide the best possible healthcare for our community both now and in the future, keeping healthcare on our doorstep.

We wish you all a very merry Christmas. Lady Margaret Spring Chairperson of Pohlen
