The fire ser­vice would also like to re­mind peo­ple that per­mits are re­quired from the coun­cil for open fires, and to be care­ful of sur­round­ings if light­ing a per­mit­ted fire. Con­di­tions are ex­tremely dry in the ru­ral area and fire spreads ex­tremely quickly in th­ese dry con­di­tions.
