Mata­mata Golf hosts na­tional four­somes

Mata­mata Golf Club is again host­ing many of New Zealand’s top women golfers this week­end.

On Fri­day the New Zealand four­somes will be played for the fourth con­sec­u­tive year at Mata­mata.

On the Satur­day and Sun­day the 41st Ruth Mid­dle­ton Me­mo­rial tour­na­ment has at­tracted a great field. Lead­ing the field are the Keh sis­ters – Wenyung + 3.5, Munchin + 2.8 and younger sis­ter Siyi 0.8 is also one of the scratch hand­i­cap­pers. The top four seeds have been or are New Zealand rep­re­sen­ta­tives. They also ap­pear in the top five of the New Zealand Or­der of Merit for 2015.

Last year’s win­ner Chantelle Cas­sidy (+ 1.9) will be chal­lenged by Wenyung and Munchin as well as Omanu’s Alanna Camp­bell (+2.9) and Cana­dian visi­tor Josee Doyon, who is ranked in the top 50 am­a­teurs in the United States. A large num­ber of golfers from Auck­land and North Har­bour will again be tak­ing part as well as Waikato’s rep­re­sen­ta­tives Fai Tongdesthri, Jill Mor­gan, Char­lotte Will­son, Zoe Huang, Deb Foster, Tessa McDon­ald and Kelly Ni­cholas.

All up there are 11 play­ers on 0 or bet­ter and a fur­ther 35 on sin­gle fig­ure hand­i­caps. Lead­ing the way for Mata­mata is Pam Wright (4.2). Shee­lah Lamb, the tour­na­ment co­or­di­na­tor, will be play­ing for the 22nd con­sec­u­tive year.

The four­somes com­mence at 8am on Fri­day with the top three com­bi­na­tions of Wenyung and Munchin Keh, Alanna Camp­bell and Siyi Keh and Ela Grim­wood and Joanna Kim tee­ing off at 8.47am.
