Bar to become catwalk for cause

- By ABBY BROWN

Both the lucky 90 ticket holders and the general public will get to enjoy The Redoubt Bar and Eatery’s fashion fundraiser and a DJ respectively.

Local legends including former Chiefs rugby player Alex Bradley, current Chiefs loose forward Johan Bardoul and cancer survivors and battlers will model clothing when the bar becomes a catwalk for a good cause. The clothing for the July 18 event is from Inspire, The RV Room and Stirling Sports. The models will have been made up and had their hair done by Ador.

Those four local shops are some of the 30 businesses that have donated their services. Others have donated products for two packages that will be auctioned off. An ex-Matamata winemaker, Kim Crawford, has donated bubbly for the guests to drink while they enjoy a Dancing with the Stars inspired show opener, organiser Henderson said.

She was hoping Jackie Diprose and her mum could attend but that would depend on how Kate was feeling.

All the funds raised will go to the Diproses to help with the costs of supporting their 7-yearold daughter.

Kate is battling leukaemia for the second time, with most of her treatment based at Starship hospital.

The Redoubt’s doors open at 6.30pm but those who didn’t get tickets won’t miss out entirely. Once the event has finished the general public will be able to come into The Redoubt and enjoy the DJ for a gold coin entry donation.
