Get Cleaning Naturally

- ABBY BROWN

After a successful workshop on sausage and salami, Transition Matamata are looking forward to their next workshop.

The next event on the agenda is John and Jackie Gieschen’s ‘Let’s Get Cleaning Naturally!’ session set for June 25, which will run from 9am to noon, at Matamata College.

In this session, participants will make their own castile hand soap from scratch using all natural ingredients, Transition Matamata convenor Gord Stewart said.

They will also be shown how to make liquid soap, laundry powder, other natural cleaning products, and natural toiletries such as deodorant, moisturiser, and sun screen.

Ingredients will be provided, but participants will need to bring some equipment and supplies. The workshop costs $12. Stewart said Transition Matamata’s recent workshop on sausage and salami was a real hit.

‘‘Mel Priest’s foods classroom at the college was the scene of the action.

‘‘It was full to capacity for the session as Master Sausage Maker, Steve Simpson, and Priest led participants through the process.’’

He was grateful to the college for taking reservations for the workshop and opening its doors for the evening.
