Chance to reward local businesses
Join the Matamata-Piako District Council along with business people from across the district for a night of great food, networking, and entertainment featuring keynote speaker former CEO of Telecom and co-founder of My Food Bag Teresa Gattung.
The 2016 Business Night Out is set to take place on Thursday September 1 at the Matamata Memorial Centre from 5.30pm and provides an opportunity to recognise the efforts and success of local businesses. Nominations have now closed for the Gull Customer Service Award. The top four finalists will go to a public vote from Wednesday August 3 - Friday August 12.
This year the Bayleys Business Excellence Award is recognising top businesses in the district, with the winners receiving a $1500 Mediaworks radio advertising voucher. Businesses are invited to put themselves forward and enter.
All entries of this award will be judged by a panel of business experts who will choose the finalists and one winner for each of the Matamata, Te Aroha and Morrinsville areas.
The 2016 Keynote speaker, Teresa Gattung, worked in senior marketing roles at National Mutual and the Bank of New Zealand before taking up her role at Telecom (now Spark) New Zealand.
Gattung was the first woman to run a large New Zealand public company and lead them through world-changing technology developments and the evolution of the business from a traditional Telco to the number one IT provider in New Zealand.
Ticket sales close on Monday August 15, if not sold out prior, so get in quick. Last year’s tickets to the event were sold out with a crowd of almost 300 people attending.
Last year Matamata’s COMAG won the Bayleys Business Excellence Award and Jersey Girl Organics took the very first Emerging Business Award. Life Pharmacy won the Matamata customer service award for retail and Plumb.Co took the Matamata customer service award for trades and services.
COMAG’s general manager Kevin Dare said to get nominated was ‘‘fantastic’’ but to win was ‘‘amazing’’ and Jersey Girl Organics’ Mary Vosper said the family-run business were surprised but happy to be announced as Emerging Business Award recipients.
