Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

At the recent Matamata-Piako District Council Volunteer recognition morning held in Morrinsville, I received a certificate acknowledging the work of the Civil Defence Welfare team. This group of district wide volunteers was active for 20 years, meeting three times annually, receiving training and carrying out exercises under the guidance of Emergency Management, Thames Valley Combined District. The group was capable of setting up welfare sites in the case of civil emergency. This role is now managed by council.

I accept the recognition on behalf of all who gave their time willingly over the 20 years and the support given to me in the role of team leader for 14 years. Special mention must be made of Diane Hazelton who was the minute taker all those years. Thank you everyone.
