Close games in 4s competitio­n at Rewa

The Post Section of the Waikato Open Men and Women’s 4s took place at Rewa on Sunday, November13.

It was windy but remained fine for the games.

Results of the Women’s 4s: Six teams took part in the qualifying rounds on Saturday at Hillcrest Bowling Club.

After three rounds: Frankton Junction; Hinuera; and Stadium (1) had 6 points.Tokoroa had 4 points. Stadium (2) had 3 points.

Hillcrest had 1 point. Two further rounds were played at Rewa. Frankton Junction and Hinuera both won their games giving them a further six points each.

Stadium (1) and Tokoroa won a further three points each. Stadium (2) and Hillcrest remained unchanged.

This meant that Frankton Junction and Hinuera both had 12 points, so it went back to the winner of their game played in the qualifying round which was won by Frankton Junction.

The winning team were: Ashleigh Jeffcoat(S); Noeline Hancock(3); Toni Roberts-Hislop(2) and Kerrie Lupson.

Result of the Men’s 4s: Eight teams were in the Men’s post Sec- tion: Round 1: Putaruru def. Te Kuiti(1). Hinuera(1) def. Hillcrest(1). Hillcrest(2) def. Frankton Railway. Hinuera(2) def, Te Kuiti(2).

Round Putaruru. Hinuera(2).

The Final was a battle between Hinuera(1) and Hillcrest(2), going to an extra end to find a winner. The winners from Hinuera were; Stu Settle; Bruce Milne; G.Slattery and Kevin Smith. 2: Hinuera (1) Hillcrest(2) def. def.
