School badge honours three Cs

- SCHOOL REPORT

Once a month, Matamata Intermediate students submit a report. This report is written by Ava Richards & Marissa McGill.

Many of you will already know about Matamata Intermediate’s CCC culture. Everything we do is based around courtesy, common sense and consideration.

Our school motto, Whaia Te Kaha - Strive to Achieve, along with the three Cs helps us to achieve our best.

Both are even included in our school song.

You may have received a blue CCC shirt during your time at Intermediate (did you know that the first shirt was actually green?).

This year, in consultation with the student forum, we have come up with a new idea, a CCC badge.

The badge will be awarded to students who display the three Cs culture.

As a recipient of this award I will definitely value my badge and proudly keep it to show future generations.

There have been lots of great opportunities for students to practice the three Cs already this year.

Many classes have been on EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) experiences.

Ohope, Rotorua, Hamilton and Coromandel were just some of the amazing places classes explored during the past couple of weeks.

If you follow our school Facebook page, you will have seen that although the weather altered many plans, it didn’t dampen our spirits.

We exercised our common sense and consideration when plans didn’t quite go right, making it a lot easier for teachers, other students and parents.

Recently we were privileged to have 24 students from Japan at MIS for 10 days.

Host students and families will be giving them a taste of our awesome Kiwi culture, experiencing things like dairy farms, Rotorua Geothermal Parks and the Waitomo Caves.

We started the year with four new teachers at MIS.

A big welcome to Mr Ureata, the teacher in room four, Miss Jones, our teacher in room eight, Matua Stanley, teaching creative performance and Ms Crabb, teaching room one, on Fridays.

Our biggest challenge this year will be our 24 hour relayfundraiser (April 12-13).

We welcome any families to come and join in - we’ll keep you posted on this in our next article.
