We’ve had some good feedback from last week’s ‘‘message on a bottle’’ story outlining the Kiwi Bottle Drive campaign. The drivers of it want associate environment minister Scott Simpson to lobby Government for a return to the bottle exchange system which used to operate in New Zealand about 30 years ago. We Kiwi Bottle Drive will hold its own bottle collection this week, organised by Transition Matamata. Staying with politics, this week we start the first in what we hope will be a series of Q&As for the political candidates contesting the Waikato electorate, and the Hauraki-Waikato electorate at this year’s general election. We’ve started with an open question, asking what they thought was the main issue facing the district. You can read and analyse their responses on page 21. We hope that their replies will in some way assist people when it comes to make a decision on who to vote for. If you have any questions you would like to put to the candidates, please let us know.
