Search on for brightest home

- REXINE HAWES

The search is on for Matamata’s brightest home this Christmas.

The 2017 Bayleys Christmas Lights Tour is returning in 2017 and its organisers are appealing for people to consider being involved.

The Christmas Lights Tour, sponsored by Bayleys, Mitre 10 and the Chronicle has been running in Matamata for over 10 years.

Organiser Margaret Troughton, Bayleys Matamata branch manager, says she is always thrilled to see people getting into the festive mood.

Every year she says the number of entries increases and it shows how much the Christmas season means to people. She says come December people are always requesting the tour map.

‘‘It gets us all into the festive season and shows people we still care about Christmas.’’

Troughton says she would also like to see the businesses get behind the event as well and into a bit of a competitive Christmas spirit by creating festive front window displays.

Mitre 10 is offering 15 per cent off christmas lights for anyone who is registered in the tour.

Three $100 Mitre 10 vouchers will be awarded this year, with the winners drawn at random.

Registrations will open on November 22.

An entry form will be printed in the Chronicle or you can collect a form from Bayleys or Mitre10 in Matamata.
