The Green gets splash of colour

At the end of Novem­ber the Green will be full of colour as artists con­verge to the He­tana St site.

Art on the Green is the an­nual ex­hi­bi­tion for the Mata­mata So­ci­ety of Arts mem­bers.

The so­ci­ety usu­ally hosts a ma­jor art ex­hi­bi­tion ev­ery year in the Memo­rial Cen­tre.

Due to it be­ing un­der con­struc­tion, the so­ci­ety is hold­ing a much smaller dis­play of its mem­bers works at Rail­side by the Green on Novem­ber 25.

In­di­vid­ual artists will be dis­play­ing their in­di­vid­ual works and there will be a rare op­por­tu­nity for peo­ple to wit­ness some of the art work in progress.

Mata­mata So­ci­ety of Art mem­ber Ernie Keene says they are all ex­cited to share their art work with the com­mu­nity and hope peo­ple will come down and see some of ta­lent Mata­mata has to of­fer.

‘‘It’s a chance for all us artists to dis­play our work, show what we do, get feed­back and and maybe sell it too.

‘‘It brings our art so­ci­ety out into the fore.’’

He said they are al­ways look­ing for new mem­bers to be in­volved, and this is the per­fect chance for peo­ple to come and ask ques­tions and see if it is the right fit.

Some of the art work will be avail­able for pur­chase, as well as some crafts.

Eft­pos will be avail­able for peo­ple at Art on the Green.


Mata­mata So­cioety of Art mem­bers, such as Ani­tra Mur­phy will be dis­play­ing their works at Rail­side for Art on the Green.
