AUCKLAND

Drive for about an hour from the city to the west coast to the famous Piha beach, then head to the Kitekite Falls in the western part of the Waitakere Ranges. From there it’s an easy 30-minute walk from the carpark to see this incredible 40-metre, multi-stepped waterfall. The drive and walk alone are worth it to see this unique part of the country. Back in the city, head to Britomart and have lunch at Ortolana, dinner at local favourite Amano (try their pappardelle lamb ragù with olives – it’s divine) and then wander around the corner to Giapo ice cream parlour with handmade gelatos, sorbets with crazy names, flavours and constructions of wild Instagram-worthy ice creams. A must-visit.
