ATM DISPENSES RICE FOR THOSE STRUGGLING WITH HUNGER

-

A Vietnamese businessman has invented a 24/7 ‘rice ATM’ to help people struggling to eat during the pandemic. The machine, which is free to use, distributes a 1.5 kg bag of rice through a small silo.

Hoang Tuan Anh, who first set up the machine in Ho Chi Minh City, says he wanted to create a way for people to safely access food and resources. “I refer to this machine as a ‘rice ATM’ because people can withdraw rice from it, assured that there are still good people out there who want to give them a second chance,” he said.

Nguyen Thi Ly, a local resident whose husband had recently lost his job, says the rice ATM has helped feed her family. “With this one bag of rice, we can have enough for one day,” she told local media.
