Hot rod and custom show for Speedshow

-

The Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show, held as part of the CRC Speedshow, is set to return to its own dedicated and covered hall for its second consecutive year, to showcase New Zealand’s top pre-1973 custom vehicles on July 16 and 17 at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.

Following on from the success at last year’s show, CRC Speedshow managing director Ross Prevette said: “The Teng Tools Grand National Rod & Custom Show held last year was a roaring success. We had so many great comments about it so we simply had to bring it back for another year, and we’re fortunate enough to have the support from Teng Tools again.”

The Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show is set to be a major highlight of the 2016 CRC Speedshow with last year’s version bringing in the best cars from around the country along with world-class judges including Jessi Combs.

“While we can’t name our judges yet, they’re certainly considered experts in the field and last year said how impressed they were with the calibre of vehicles on display and this year will be no different. The results are always close which makes it exciting for everyone,” explained Prevette.

Marketing manager for Teng Tools New Zealand, Stephen Cole, said: “We’re really excited to be back in 2016 for another year of the Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show. Everyone that we meet, whether they have a car on display or not, is hugely passionate about hot rods and custom cars and that’s ultimately why we’re involved. Every year it has got bigger and better so we can’t wait to see what this year brings.”

While only in its second year in the current format, this mini show-withina-show has successfully ran at the CRC Speedshow since 2013, after the New Zealand Hot Rod Association held its 50th National Hot Rod Show at the show in 2012.

“This show is not designed to replace or compete with existing shows and maintains the all-inclusive nature of the previous Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show where all owners of top show quality cars are welcome, whether or not they are members of the NZHRA , the NZ National Street Rod Association or any car club,” said Prevette.

Entry is open to anyone with a top quality pre-1973 hot rod or street machine and potential entrants are invited to apply for inclusion in this annual event by visiting the Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show page on CRC Speedshow website.

“If you’re not sure about the eligibility criteria, simply get in touch with us,” said Prevette. “Remember it can be unfinished project or even be a new build that hasn’t been shown before. We’re open to all types of cars and motorcycles for this show so don’t hold back.”
