Preventing carbon build-up

-

Flashlube has released a range of vehicle specific fitting kits to assist with the correct installation of its Catch Can Pro unit, and help combat any damage caused by carbon build up in modern diesel engines.

Environmental laws prevent modern engines from releasing oil mist or blow by into the atmosphere, forcing it to be recirculated back into the combustion chamber.

The by-product of this process can be a hard carbon substance which gradually builds up around the walls of the vehicles EGR valve, inlet manifold, turbo bearings and intercooler, causing a severe loss of power and efficiency, and potentially expensive engine damage. This occurrence is especially true in diesel vehicles where the fuel burns much dirtier than in petrol engines.

Manufactured under licence in Germany, the Flashlube Catch Can Pro works to prevent this build up by filtering out any oil mist before it has the chance to reach engine components, delivering cleaner air to the engine and reducing the likelihood of contamination and damage.

The new Flashlube fitting kits include the compact Catch Can Pro unit, which features large 19mm inlet and outlet ports to ensure easy fitting. To further aide in installation, the kits are engineered to be vehicle specific and come complete with OE manufactured, oil resistant hoses, as well as all necessary hose clamps and brackets.

The unit is fitted with a replaceable filter element and features pressure relief and vacuum relief safety valves to ensure that installation of the unit won’t over-pressurise the engine.
