Dam demands

-

We read write-ups and statements about the very expensive dam the Tasman District Council is telling us to support and pay for, otherwise the area will fall apart. There are questions that need to be answered in an honest manner. How much more of our beautiful producing land will be covered in houses which will need a huge amount of water, leaving us to buy imported vegetables and fruit. Will areas of pine trees be removed as they will drink half the dam water?

No-one knows how much this dam will actually cost. The TDC is heavy in debt; will they use the dam by adding a few extra million to reduce the debt? Both councils were told to apply for a supply from the lakes in 1957. If we had sensible people representing us this would not have happened. Another good reason why Nelson and Tasman should be one. Who can one trust or believe on this dam subject?
