Global pitch for landmark Nelson pub
Housing and commercial developments are among the options for a prime piece of Nelson real estate, which is the centre of an international sales campaign.
The Honest Lawyer pub and hotel, and the 1.3ha private penin- sula it sits on on the Waimea Estuary, has gone on sale on 120 of the world’s leading property websites, commercial real estate company Colliers International Nelson said.
The property, next to the Monaco Peninsula suburb, ‘‘includes approximately 3500sq m of vacant land available for residential or commercial development,’’ said Colliers broker Ken Montgomery.
The vacant land is key to understanding the value of the property.
‘‘The property would either suit a purchaser wanting to build a home in this magnificent location, while enjoying rental income from the hotel complex, or a residential or commercial developer.’’
The Honest Lawyer was built in 1995 in the style of an old English pub, and comprises bars, a restaurant, dining rooms, as well as accommodation units.
Its lease has about four-anda-half years of the current term remaining, with two further rights of renewal of six years each.
‘‘The Honest Lawyer’s lease is currently returning $291,795 per annum plus GST, with the tenant responsible for all outgoings,’’ Montgomery said.
‘‘The absolute waterfront land is zoned Suburban Commercial, which allows for a range of permitted activities including commercial and residential uses.’’
The property is on the market for sale by negotiation.
