No dam, no apples
The suggestion ‘‘no dam means no apples’’ is a sad commentary on a sector that believes they are entitled to a subsidised water supply.
There are other solutions for water augmentation that water intensive crop growers are welcome to invest in on their own solely for their private wealth making enterprises.
As currently proposed this small group of mostly very wealthy land owners, propose that they get 65 per cent plus of the water benefit for as little as a yet to be confirmed commitment to put up 20 per cent of equity with general ratepayers guaranteeing and underwriting the rest.
This can only be described as a rort on general ratepayers and TDC is guilty of gross negligence of duty in their recommended solutions for governance and ownership of the proposed dam as outlined in the consultation propaganda. It is clear that the 95 per cent certain price being advocated by TDC is to construct a dam wall and excludes several very material project related items and costs that would see the full project cost balloon well beyond $120million.
WIL know this as this is why they are seeking to limit their exposure to $1.5 million of cost overruns beyond the $75.9m. 2015 search for the "1080 in baby formula blackmailer". The then Government also labelled this person an"eco terrorist".
While the 15/12/2017 Nelson Mail article named the real "eco terrorist", Jeremy Kerr, the fact file did not reveal Kerr had been an integral part of the Government’s poison industry. The Sunday Star Times, 28/2/2016, revealed Jeremy Kerr was at the heart of research and development which started when he entered into a 1994 product agreement with Government company Landcare Research.
This agreement ended in 2006 although, Feratox, a poison Kerr initially developed, is still used by Government agencies. Kerr also worked with DoC on their"Efficacy of micro-encapsulated zincphosphide as a poison for ferrets" project.
Rolf and Ute Kleine, along with all others opposed to 1080 use, are only trying to save our native fauna, pets and livestock from dying in 1080 operations .... does that make them criminals? The Government-labelled "eco terrorist", Jeremy Kerr, cost New Zealand $37 million ... what has the Police operation against the Kleines cost them?
