A good place to live
John Nicholls Brightwater, July 4 Sadly, there are too many letters in the press complaining about this or that. I want to praise a couple of people who came to my help.
Since suffering a brain haemorrhage and a stroke in 2005, I have been living with a measure of right-sided weakness. That doesn’t stop me getting out and about, and I am grateful for life in such a beautiful place.
Today, I was making for a shop off Montgomery Square and accidentally tripped over the kerb and landed on my right side. I was stunned, and worried how I might get back on my feet. Then a young woman came running up, offering to help. A young man also offered to assist. Together, they assisted me to my feet and found me a seat, and checked I was OK before they moved on.
Thank you to these present-day Good Samaritans. Nelson is a good place in which to live. Charles Tyrrell
