UB40 anniversary tour coming to Nelson
English reggae band UB40 are coming to Nelson as part of their 40th anniversary tour.
The band released their new album, A Real Labour of Love, earlier this year, and the New Zealand leg of their tour will come to Trafalgar Park on February 5.
UB40 formed in Birmingham in December 1978, and have sold more than 70 million records worldwide and have had more than 50 singles in the UK charts.
They have been nominated for the Best Reggae Album Grammy Award four times, and have also been nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group.
Original UB40 members Ali Campbell, Astro (Terence Wilson) and Mickey Virtue will be joined on stage in Nelson by their eight-piece band.
Next year marks 40 years since UB40 first performed live, and the band will perform a greatest hits set featuring songs such as Red Red Wine, Cherry Oh Baby and Rat In Mi Kitchen.
Tickets for the show go on sale on July 11 to Jacman Entertainment and Neptune Entertainment subscribers, and to the general public on July 12.
