Cyclist injured in crash

A 14-year-old boy was taken to hospital with moderate injuries after a crash on Nelson’s Waimea Rd on Monday. The boy was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a car at the intersection of Waimea Rd and Hampden St. A police spokeswoman said the crash happened about 3.35pm, with police and ambulance attending the scene. St John spokeswoman Chrissy Hamilton said a male patient was taken to Nelson Hospital with moderate injuries. Nelson Marlborough District Health Board communications manager Stephanie Gray said the boy was currently in a stable condition in hospital.
