❚ The Caroline Bellamy: Wild & Light exhibition is at the Parker Gallery, Achilles Ave, Nelson until December 11.

Brent Forbes’ exhibition Coastal is at Red Gallery, 1 Bridge St, Nelson until December 7.

James Robinson is holding an exhibition of works on paper that explore the darkness of the human psyche at the Quiet Dog Gallery, 33 Wakatu Lane, Nelson until December 15.

❚ A retrospect­ive exhibition examining the life and work of painter Helen Flora Victoria Scales (1887-1985) is at Nelson’s Suter Art Gallery until January 27.

❚ Chromatic Surfaces by Dunedin-based MFA (distinctio­n) Jessica Ritchie and Low Hanging Fruit by local artists David Carson and Jim Mackay are being exhibited at the Refinery ArtSpace, Halifax St, Nelson until December 8.

❚ Emma Moncrieff is showing art and sculptures in her Dress Series 1 exhibition at Nelson City Framers, Nile St, Nelson until December 3.

❚ A lecture by Jun Cruz Reyes on Philippine literature, creative writing and arts will be held at the St Barnabas’ Anglican Church hall, Stoke on November 30 at 5pm. Event free but donations appreciate­d.

❚ The Willow’s Daughter, based on Snow White, written by 15-year-old Soley Pauls and performed by homeschool­ed children, will be on at the Riverside Community Hall, Lower Moutere on November 30 at 7pm and December 1 at 1pm. Entry $2 per person or $6 for a family.

❚ Wellington standup comedian Fergus Aitken will be performing at Mapua’s Playhouse Cafe´ & Theatre Restaurant on November 29 at 8pm, and Takaka’s Wholemeal Cafe´ on November 30 at 8pm. Tickets $15.

❚ The Alpaca Social Club is performing music with roots in acoustic, Celtic trad, gypsy swing and various world music styles at Nelson’s Fairfield House tonight at 8pm. Entry $20.

❚ Tui Mamaki brings the Fly album release tour to Fairfield House on Sunday at 7.30pm. Entry $2.

❚ The Nelson Symphony Orchestra’s final concert for 2018, Romance Mystery, will take place at the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts auditorium on tomorrow at 7.30pm.
