What’s on in Nelson
❚ James Robinson is holding an exhibition of works on paper that explore the darkness of the human psyche at the Quiet Dog Gallery, Wakatu Lane, Nelson until December 15.
❚ The Centre for Fine Woodworking opens its annual exhibition at the Refinery Artspace on December 13 at 5.30pm. This shows off works from New Zealand’s premier furniture-making, woodworking and design school and runs until January 12.
❚ The Suter Art Gallery presents Steve Fuller: Cutting a New Orbit, an exhibition canvassing his 40-year career in ceramics, opening on December 16 at 5.30pm and running until February 10. A raffle closes on December 14 – first prize is one of Fuller’s large-scale whales, valued at $500; tickets $20, drawn on December 17.
❚ Blackenbrook Vineyard, Baldwin Rd, Tasman is hosting an exhibition of photographs by local photographer Ruth Bollongino on December 22 and 23 from 1pm to 5pm.
❚ Paintings by Anna Pickersgill-Brown are being exhibited at Elevation Cafe and Bar and the European Bakery and Cafe, both on Motueka’s High St, until December 31.
❚ Sculptures and drawings by Ali Kennedy are on display in the Weathered 2 exhibition at the Refinery ArtSpace, Halifax St, Nelson until January 12.
❚ A retrospective exhibition examining the life and work of painter Helen Flora Victoria Scales (1887-1985) is at Nelson’s Suter Art Gallery until January 27.
❚ The Nelson Suter Art Society is holding a Cash ‘n’ Carry Summer exhibition at the Suter’s McKee Gallery from December 6 to February 3.
