Courtesy crossings
Neville Male Stoke, February 5 The latest edition of Our Nelson gives detailed instructions for both drivers and pedestrians on how to use courtesy crossings. But what about overseas or out-of-town drivers?
In other New Zealand towns, these raised crossings are traffic-calming devices, and nothing else. I have seen many near-misses, especially in the summertime.
What would be helpful is what is done in Richmond. Thick white lines on the road on each side of the crossing suggest to drivers that it is some sort of crossing.
