■ Rabbit Island is hosting McDonald’s giant 14 metre, inflatable Slip ’n Slide-thru on January 25 from 11am to 3pm. It’s free and open to the public.

■ Wellington New Orleans-style band Richter City Rebels is delivering its signature feel-good vibe to the Nelson region. Shows include Toad Hall, Motueka, January 30, 7pm; Mussel Inn, Golden Bay, January 31, 9pm; and Fairfield House, February 3, 7pm. Tickets are $10 on the door for Motueka and Golden Bay, and $20 general admission for Fairfield House, available from www.underthera­dar.co.nz

■ Summer Movies Al Fresco is winding up for the season with the final event screening Pollyanna at Fairfield Park on January 24 and Anne of the Indies at Washbourne Gardens in Richmond. Be there at 9pm with a comfy seat, a rug and a torch to light your way at the end of the night. Adults, $2, children, $1.

■ Morning 5km runs are being held every Wednesday in January from Zumo Coffee House, 42 Rutherford St. The race for runners and walkers starts at 6am. Enter on the morning of the event – entry fee $5.

■ The Sarau Festival and Country Market is on at the Moutere Hills Community Centre on February 2 from 3pm till 9pm. Guest chef, stalls, activities and loads of entertainm­ent. Entry $5 for adults, children free.

■ The Isel Twilight Market is on at Stoke’s Isel Park every Thursday from 4.30pm to dark.

■ The Nelson Buskers Festival is on from January 31 to February 2 at venues around Nelson, including the Church Steps, top of Trafalgar Street and The Boathouse. There’ll be plenty of free and ticketed events for the whole family. Visit www.nelson.govt.nz for more informatio­n.

■ Serpico and King B are taking their beats to Deville, New St in Nelson on January 25, 9pm. The deep-techie, club house tunes have visuals by Burnt Pixel. Entry $10 on the door.
