Dodge reveals ’King Daytona’ Charger
Dodge is in the middle of a sendoff series for the current Charger and Challenger before the iconic models go electric, and the latest reveal is a monstrous 603kW Charger dubbed ‘King Daytona’.
Based on the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, Dodge has upped power of the 6.2-litre supercharged V8 by 7kW to break the 600kW mark, while torque is rated at 958Nm.
And if people don’t hear you coming, they’ll see you. The special Charger comes with a vivid ‘Go Mango’ paint job paired with satin black decals wrapping around the bootlid and 20-inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed wheels covering orange Brembo brakes.
Inside is Nappa leather and Alcantara seat upholstery along with orange interior stitching, suede headliner, carbon-fibre trim, an Alcantara steering wheel, Harman/Kardon premium audio system, navigation and a powered sunroof. You also get plenty of special badging inside and out.
The inspiration behind the King Daytona comes from William ‘Big Willie’ Robinson, who owned and raced a modified Charger in the 1960s and 1970s. He was extremely fast on the strip but was also vocal about encouraging racers to keep the high-speed antics to the track, not public roads.
Just 300 examples of the King Daytona will be made as part of Dodge’s Last Call series. Pricing is yet to be announced
