Waitangi Day: Commemorat­ions start with a pōwhiri at 9am on Whakatū Marae and led by Ngāti Koata and other iwi of Te Tauihu o Te Waka-a-Māui. It will be followed by traditiona­l Māori art workshops on the marae displaying and sharing skills in raranga (weaving), whakairo (carving) and more. From 10am there will be a variety of stalls at the marae and in Founders Heritage Park selling traditiona­l foods, refreshmen­ts, and arts & crafts.

Mishra: Mishra are a global folk collective with strong roots in UK folk, out of which they weave a tight web of intricate, Indianinfl­uenced original music that defies definition and has brought them awards recognitio­n since their formation in 2017. Fairfield House, tomorrow. 7pm. $20. Honest Lawyer 5k Fun Run And Walk Series: This popular 5k Series returns for an 8-week run to Easter, starting on Monday, February 5. Registrati­on from 5.15pm in The Honest Lawyer Garden. Early Runners & Walkers (over 30min) – 6pm start. Runners (under 30min) – 6.15pm start. Results and spot prizes at 7.15pm. Sharland Cycles 5k Fun Run & Walk Series: This series of 5k events for runners and walkers is organised by Waimea Harriers and based at Club Waimea in Richmond. Held on Wednesday evenings, the series restarts after a break on February 7 and runs until March 27. The safety briefing is at 6pm at Club Waimea, followed immediatel­y by the Walkers start and then all Runners 10 minutes later. $3 entry (free for school kids and youth students).

Jazz on the Village Green: Pack your picnic basket, blanket and comfy chairs, and top it all off with sunscreen and a hat. Whether you're a seasoned jazz fan or

simply looking for a relaxing afternoon, this series promises something for everyone. Founders Park, Sunday afternoons until the end of March; 1pm to 3pm.

Adam New Zealand Internatio­nal Chamber Music Festival: Every two years, our co-artistic drectors, Gillian Ansell and Helene Pohl of the New Zealand String Quartet, invite a selection of internatio­nal and national musicians to gather for 10 days of shared excellence in performanc­e and collaborat­ion, resulting in a programme ranging from classical favourites to new commission­s, as well as artist talks and masterclas­ses. At the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts until February 10. Baton Valley ride: Cyclists can explore a little-known part of the Tasman region when Baton House opens its doors in a fundraisin­g event to help people living with chronic fatigue syndrome. Animal Antics: A hilarious exhibition curated from the Comedy Wildlife Photograph­y Awards Collection. Immerse yourself in a world of mischievou­s monkeys, clumsy cats, and photobombi­ng fish, captured in their most comical moments. Nelson Provincial Museum, until May 5.

Food Truck Fridays: At Founders Park cafe until February 23, 4pm-8pm with an array of food, live music and free entry. Learning from Nature: Te Hītori Aotūroa: Learning from Nature is a thoughtpro­voking exhibition that delves into the world of birds, bones and bugs, showcasing natural history highlights from the Nelson Provincial Museum’s collection. Precious specimens on display range from majestic toroa (southern royal albatross) and snowy owls to the pūteketeke. Until May 5.

Fire & Earth: Nelson is a region rich in ceramic art, with a long history and a vibrant community of clay artists. Fire & Earth is a biennial exhibition that showcases the best of this creative scene, featuring works by selected and curated ceramicist­s from across the region. Suter Art Gallery, until March 10.

Katoitoi – Response: Golden Bay/Mohua artists were asked to respond to an artist that they have a strong preference for, or are akin to, and who has created an iconic/ famous/well-known work that represents or references Golden Bay/Mohua. Golden Bay Museum, until April 30.

Disruptive Order: A showcase of abstractio­n from The Suter's permanent collection. The fourth in a series of exhibition­s looking at different themes and approaches to abstractio­n. until March 24.
