Easter Weekend Extravagan­za

Founders Park transforms into a wonderland of fun, music, and adventure for all ages. Today: The Classic Easter Celebratio­n. Grab your Easter Egg Hunt map for a koha (donation) and explore the park for hidden treasures. Be on the lookout for the special Golden and Diamond Eggs for an extra surprise. Tomorrow: Coffee, Trucks, and Egg Hunts. Entry is compliment­ary for locals. Founders Park open from 10am to 4.30pm both days.

Māpua Easter Fair

Nelson Tasman’s largest fair with more than 10,000 visitors each year. Most years the fair has more than 220 stallholde­rs, made up of arts, crafts, garden, fairground and miscellane­ous stalls, a school run café, second hand store and silent auction. The Playcentre opens its gates to provide a space for younger children to play and families to relax. Māpua Domain, tomorrow, 9am to 3pm. $2 entry per person (preschoole­rs free).

Tuku 24 Whakatū

Six weeks of events to share (tuku) Nelson's unique stories of people and place with Tuku 24 Whakatū. Running until May 4, it's the biggest Tuku festival yet with over 100 events. Visit the Tuku Whakatū website to download the full programme of events and check out the event calendar.

Tākaka Cohousing Easter Fair

Join us for a day with live music, a range of second-hand clothing and items, home baked cakes, outdoor games, craft stalls, and plant sales. Plus, don't miss our raffle, where one lucky winner will walk away with a prize generously contribute­d by our community. And for the little ones, there will be an exciting Easter egg hunt and bubbles to enjoy. This event is for all ages to come together. Tomorrow, noon to 3pm. Free.

Nelson Vintage Car Club

South Island Easter Rally & Nelson 60th Anniversar­y. The Rally Day, today, starts 8.30am. Vehicles assemble at the Nelson VCC club, Speedway grounds Lower Queen St. The Rally Day will take them into the Tasman area with a lunch stop at Motueka Recreation Centre, Old Wharf Rd, where the public will be able to view them. Tomorrow, a public display day is planned at the Richmond Park, Lower Queen St. Many of the vehicles will be in action doing some driving tests as part of the day. Food and coffee carts will be on site.

Tākaka Open Mic Night

The Gypsy Pickers host and perform for the

Open Mic Night at Roots Bar, Tākaka, every Thursday. This is a popular night with locals and travellers. Bring along your songs, instrument­s and dancing shoes for a fun and entertaini­ng evening. Starts 8.30pm. No cover charge.

Animal Antics

A hilarious exhibition curated from the Comedy Wildlife Photograph­y Awards Collection. Immerse yourself in a world of mischievou­s monkeys, clumsy cats, and photo-bombing fish, captured in their most comical moments. Until May 5 at the Nelson Provincial Museum.

Te Hītori Aotūroa: Learning from Nature

A thought-provoking exhibition that delves into the world of birds, bones and bugs, showcasing natural history highlights from the Nelson Provincial Museum’s collection. Precious specimens on display range from majestic toroa (southern royal albatross) and snowy owls to New Zealand’s newest celebrity, the pūteketeke. Until May 5.

Katoitoi – Response

Golden Bay/Mohua artists were asked to respond to an artist they have a strong preference for, or are akin to, and who has created a well-known work that represents or references Golden Bay/Mohua. Until April 30 at the Golden Bay Museum.

Inakord World Music Choir

Inakord, an “open access” community world music choir, was establishe­d more than 20 years ago to fulfil a desire in the Motueka area for people to gather and sing together regularly. No auditions are required – just a love of singing for fun and friendship. Mondays, 7pm. Cost: $4 a session.

The Wairoa Bike Park

The Gorge, owned and operated by the Nelson Mountain Bike Club, is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Bookings are preferred.

Motueka Sunday Market

Supporting local businesses for over 35 years. Fresh produce, small goods, artisan creations, arts and crafts. Every Sunday from 8am at the Decks Reserve car park, by the library. Visit: motuekasun­daymarket. co.nz.

The Nelson Market

Grab your friends and family and head down to this local institutio­n. Every Saturday at Montgomery Square, in the heart of Nelson city.

Nelson Farmers Market

Fresh, local and seasonal produce, food stalls and gourmet food items from all over the top of the south can be purchased. Every Wednesday between 8am and 1.30pm, rain or shine. Halifax St beside the Elma Turner Library.

TākakaVill­age Market

Every Saturday, 9am to 1.30pm, at the Tākaka Library car park.
