Robert Barry spoke with Bev Cassidy-McKenzie at the Auckland Chamber of Commerce about its longstanding relationship with Z and Z fuel cards
Q: Why does the Chamber of Commerce prefer Z Fuelcard?
Z is our Alliance Partner and can offer great savings to Chamber of Commerce members. Z provides members with a fuel management system and a competitive fuel discount. In recognition of the New Zealand Chambers longstanding and loyal relationship with Z Energy, Z offers chamber members five cents per litre off the pump price on petrol and diesel at participating Z service stations nationwide.
Q: How long has the chamber had a relationship with this provider?
The Chamber has had an alliance with Z energy for more than two decades. It is a strong and valued relationship not only for Auckland Chamber of Commerce but also for New Zealand Chambers of Commerce network.
Q: What are the features and benefits of a Z Fuelcard for a chamber member?
The Z Fuelcard is for busy business people. Z Energy does the administration, chamber members do business. There is no need to collect supermarket dockets or use petrol vouchers, just an easy-to-use card which tracks company usage and makes analysis and reporting easy.
Members use it to pay securely for petrol and diesel; they can keep track of all fuel expenditure online, leaving more time to get on with real work.
Scott Mackenzie, general manager of charitable trust, Get in2life Youth Development Trust, runs a fleet of two trucks, two vans and seven trailers. Having a Z-card gives him more time to carry out work and offers greater efficiencies for his business.
“My team is on the road, running In2it Street Games events throughout Auckland. I can customise a card for each vehicle, and get my accounts emailed to me with a breakdown, so I know how much we are spending on each vehicle and how many kilometres we are doing each week.
“It is great that I can change the preferences for the cards online, and I can get annual reporting per vehicle. For security and tracking spend, it is so much better than the petrol vouchers we used to use, and not only do I have accurate records, but I can pay by a monthly direct debit, which makes it easy to manage,” he said.
Q: Is there any preferential treatment for members with a larger fleet of vehicles, ie, bigger fuel discounts? Access to more detailed reporting?
All Members are entitled to the same benefit – the same fuel discounts and detailed reporting – no matter the size of their business.
Q: What are the online or exception reporting benefits which are offered to members by Z Fuelcard? How can these be best utilised to member advantage?
Mileage reporting allows businesses to track usage and costs per litre, check where sales representatives are and where they fill up, and fuel usage against how far they are traveling. It’s great for monitoring mileage and for financial reporting. Even paying by direct debit, it is easy to see changes and anomalies in monthly usage.
