LPG 'no-brainer' for cabs

-

According to Corporate Cabs business development manager Gary Bennett, using a Contact Rockgas Auto LPG fuel card is a no-brainer for any fleet vehicle, such as a Corporate Cab, which is filled up at least two to three times during a working week.

Currently around 30 percent of the Corporate Cab fleet are dedicated LPG vehicles, and with the new LPG-dedicated Holden Caprice model arriving in September, Gary says the percentage of these vehicles used in the fleet will only grow further.

According to Contact Energy, solely using Auto LPG means vehicles produce 14 percent less carbon dioxide emissions than the equivalent petrolfuelled vehicle, while burning LPG also produces lower levels of nitrous oxides than petrol and significantly lower levels of particulates than diesel vehicles.

“Every Corporate Cab operator I have spoken to about taking up the opportunity of using a Contact Rockgas Auto LPG fuel card under the Corporate Cab umbrella has done so,” he says.

“Our drivers are saving up to 50 percent on fuel outgoings at the current retail prices, but more importantly they are also making an environmental contribution by burning LPG rather than petrol.”

Coverage is not an issue, according to Gary, who says that Corporate Cabs’ Auckland fleet often travel to places as far away as Taupo, Tauranga, and Rotorua, and drivers are easily able to refuel their vehicles.

Gary says that the stability and certainty of price per litre of LPG offered by the Contact Rockgas Auto LPG fuel card, means that Corporate Cab owner-operators can fill up at any LPG outlet, knowing exactly the price they will be charged through their individual card.
