The new Amarok V6 3.0L TDI 4Motion (fulltime) all-wheel drive model delivers 165kws of peak power and a new best-in-class torque figure of 550Nm plus an overboost function which can increase the engine power up to 180kw. The function is available at full throttle for 10 seconds in duration between 50 and 120 km/h. With the new, more muscular V6 turbodiesel engine has come an increase in maximum braked towing capacity to 3,500kg. The new model also heralds a minor face-lift, new alloy wheel and upholstery options, an all-new dashboard and 12 Way electrically-adjustable ‘ergocomfort’ heated front seats. Driveability and road handling are also improved further with a Servotronic steering system, while the vehicle now includes Automatic Post-collision Braking System plus new, vented disc brakes; 17-inch on the front and 16-inch discs at the rear. At the launch of the new V6 model Volkswagen General Manager Tom Ruddenklau commented; “Without a doubt, the new Amarok V6 sits firmly at the top of the ute pecking order. With performance and quality akin to a premium SUV, Amarok V6 will yet again redefine the ute category for New Zealand.” The arrival of the V6 model as art of a new, face-lifted line has given Volkswagen New Zealand the opportunity to realign the entire Amarok range. For instance, all Amarok models will now come with 4Motion 4WD as standard, selective in the six-speed manual model, permanent with the eight-speed automatic ones. In addition, the 2.0 litre, four-cylinder models receives between $4,000 - $15,000 in specification enhancements and/or price reductions with the range kicking off with a 4Motion twin-turbo 2.0 litre, four-cylinder “Core” model from $49,990. Additional specification and price reductions continue with a new Comfortline 2.0 litre and revised Highline 2.0 litre.
