Isuzu upgrades D-max

Isuzu has introduced a upgraded D-max utility, there are nine models in the new range which features a new full Euro 5 compatible version of the company’s signature 3.0 litre turbo diesel four-cylinder engine mated to new six-speed manual and automatic transmissi­ons. The RT87 model is immediatel­y distinguis­hable form the RT85 it replaces by a new, sharper-edged nose and bonnet new headlights and grille. Other changes/improvemen­ts include a major engine fettle which has unleashed an extra 50Nms more torque, the addition of Hill Descent Control software as standard, and an upgrade from 17-inch to 18-inch dia. alloy wheels on applicable models. Inside there is a new seven-inch (LX spec) and eight- inch (LS and LS-T) infotainme­nt screen with rear view camera, eight speakers (up from six) stereo and USB outlet for the rear seat (double cab models). There are nine models in the upgraded range, with prices starting at $39,890 for the LX auto 2WD cab/chassis and topping out at $61,990 for the LS-T auto 4WD double cab. Though it was originally jointly developed with Holden, the Thai-built D-max is now very different to the Colorado. It hass proved a real success for Isuzu too, being exported now to 50 countries, of these the Oceania region is one of Isuzu’s fastest growing markets with New Zealand as the standout single market in the area in terms of growth.
