The week’s best live action
CRICKET
It’s a big week for women’s sport. The White Ferns slipped off the form of recent years to go down 2-1 to Australia in a warm-up series for the ICC Women’s World T20, but are still regarded as a chance for the title.
Reigning champions the West Indies are the hosts of the first stand-alone women’s T20 tournament and the Ferns play India in the opening match ( Sky Sport 1, Saturday, highlights 3.30pm, full replay 4.30pm) at Providence Stadium in Guyana. From there, it’s a chance for redemption against Australia ( Sky Sport 1, Wednesday, 12.30pm; highlights Thursday, 8.00am) before they take on Pakistan ( Sky Sport 1, Friday, 8.30am).
As a point of interest, this will be the first ICC T20 tournament to employ the Decision Review System.
RUGBY
Meanwhile, the Black Ferns will be strong favourites against France in Toulon (Sky Sport 1, Sunday, 8.30am).
In men’s rugby, there’s another feast of games on Sunday, beginning with the All Blacks testing their mettle against England ( Sky Sport 1, 3.30am, replays on Prime at 5.30am and noon); then Wales v Australia ( Sky Sport 2, 6.10am); Ireland v Argentina ( Sky Sport 1, 7.20am); France v South Africa ( Sky Sport 2, 8.35am); and the Māori All Blacks’ historic first match against Brazil ( Sky Sport 1, 9.30am).
RUGBY LEAGUE
The Kiwis play their third and final test against England at Elland Road in Leeds ( Sky Sport 2, Sunday, 3.34am).
