Check tracks are compatible

-

WITH THE WET WINTER SEASON ALREADY HERE, MOST CREWS running skidders will have already started using chains on their tyres to gain traction, but do you have the right ones fitted?

There is more to matching tracks to tyres than just matching the size, according to Max Stewart from Tyremax, New Zealand’s Nokian tyre distributor.

“One common mistake seems to have been the one-size-fits-all perception,” says Max, “where users assume that a set of tracks fits a certain tyre, then it’s compatible with any other tyre of the same size.”

Not so, unfortunately, and if tracks are fitted to incompatible tyres, it will void any warranty offered by the manufacturer and can result in expensive and inconvenient premature tyre failure.

“Nokian pride themselves on manufacturing only the best forestry tyre products and they have a premium guarantee to match – they treat tyre performance extremely seriously,” adds Max.

“But the wrong set up can result in thousands of dollars wasted through downtime and tyre failure.”

Getting the right information before committing to a track or tyre purchase can save a lot of money and time. For further information on track compatibility contact Nokian NZ on 0800 NOKIAN (0800 665 426) or email info@nokian.nz.
