Remote access technology launched by SouthStar
FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL TRIALS, SOUTHSTAR IS ABOUT to launch its new Forester H70 computer system that will streamline communications with machines in the forest and has the potential to help operators overcome issues without requiring service technicians to travel out to see them.
“We’re really excited about the potential for the Forester H70 to become an indispensable tool on harvesting and processing equipment,” says Jeremy Disher, Director of Southstar Equipment.
The new system, developed through DASA, provides remote access between machines and either their own office or service technician for a range of information to be shared through wireless technology.
Mr Disher sees one benefit being the ability for an operator to be able to connect with a field service agent back in town who can log into the system and diagnose problems and provide solutions there and then.
“Computers are often the source of a problem and if the operator can have a technician look at the system remotely and help with any technical settings or adjustments it would be a huge step forward in efficiency with reduced down time,” he says.
The Forester H70 system comes with a large monitor that has touchscreen support on all setting pages, making it much easier to use in a moving machine.
It’s compatible with SouthStar’s own Startrax satellite data transfer system, although it currently uses cellular services to transmit and receive data – satellite communication will be available in the future.
