WOODTECH 2017 CONFERENCE
Sawmilling and wood processing has seen a resurgence over the past couple of years, with more optimism about their future. Just what they can expect in the way of new technology in the coming years was discussed at the WoodTECH conference in Rotorua last month.
THE RANGE OF BKT FORESTRY TYRES AVAILABLE THROUGH TRS Tyre and Wheel in New Zealand has now grown to three product lines.
Manufactured in India, BKT has been growing rapidly internationally as one of the world leaders of off-highway tyres.
BKT has boosted its product range to include more than 2,000 offhighway tyres, covering almost every possible application, launching around 150 new sizes annually, with many of these being incorporated into the New Zealand line-up.
The company has developed a specific product range of tyres for the forestry sector, which are designed to handle the toughest terrain, focusing on strength, durability, load capacity and stability.
TRS Tyre and Wheel says the BKT tyres are designed for a variety of equipment, including forwarders, wheel loaders and wheeled harvesters.
TRS offers three of the distinct forestry product lines from BKT for the New Zealand market: Forestech, FS216 and F240. It says a common feature to each of the tyre lines is extraordinary resistance to damage, which not only delivers extended tyre life but also reduces machine downtime.
Forestech is the ideal tyre for forwarders with its strength and durability, even under the toughest operating conditions. Its sturdy bead and the reinforced shoulder area ensure high puncture resistance. It also has outstanding traction, a key requirement for forwarders working in our conditions. Three sizes are available: 600/55-26.5, 710/45-26.5 and 750/55-26.5.
The FS216 features a tough casing and tread with extraordinary cut and tear resistance, making it the perfect tyre for skidders. Durability, a reinforced tread and high puncture resistance are its strengths, along with excellent traction, top self-cleaning properties and high load capacity. Eight sizes are offered, either in steel-belted or aramidbelted versions: 18.4-26, 23.1p26, 28L-26, 18.4-30, 24.5-32, 30.5L32, DH 35.5L-32 and 18.4-34.
The F240 is the latest addition to BKT’s forestry line-up, specifically designed for logging operations. Excellent traction, outstanding selfcleaning properties and exceptional manoeuvrability are some of its main features. Moreover, the special and superior tread compound ensures an extended product life-cycle along with cut, wear and tear resistance. It comes in two sizes: 18-15.5 and 400-15.5.
