Our fishing comp biggest yet

THIS YEAR’S SOUTHPAC TRUCKERS & LOGGERS Fishing Tournament was the biggest yet, with 41 teams turning out in the Bay of Islands for the three-day contest.

e 148 anglers registered for the tournament made it by far the largest tournament hosted by the Bay of Islands Sword sh Club.

Tv shing show celebrity Matt Watson attended the brie ng and told his story – but Maarten Durent, CEO of tournament main sponsor Southpac Trucks, probably would have won any popularity contest…thanks to his bar shout at the Sword sh Club’s Paihia clubhouse.

With great weather conditions predicted, every team entered turned up for the “start shing” call.
