Designer Profile: Beau Couture

-

We chat to Dunedin-based bridal designer Natasha Postill of Beau Couture ( beau- couture.com) about what inspires her and her passion for the Otago region.

Q Where do you gain inspiration for your designs?

A It surrounds me always. I take in the details from architecture in the city, or textures from nature, continuously. Of course, the brideto-be is the starting point and focus for each gown. Together we bounce ideas back and forth and I begin to interpret and illustrate the design direction. Each detail is carefully considered and made to measure by myself and Beau Couture’s artisan team.

Q What do you love about the Otago region?

A I love the change of seasons, particularly the blossoms in spring and the bronze, gold and red of the leaves in autumn. The region has a great variety of landscapes, perfect for walking. I’d recommend a walk when the tide is out around Doctors Point Reserve in Blueskin Bay.

Q Do you have any advice for couples marrying in the area?

A I was blown away by images I saw of one of my brides. She and her partner loved the building and street art in Dunedin and used these bold backdrops in their photos. Otago also has beautiful places to visit, local produce to eat and drink and incredible designers and artisans. What better excuse to indulge in the finest!
