New Zealand Woman’s Weekly

It’s hard to believe it was almost four years ago that I was standing in a Cambridge paddock – rain pelting down and gale-force winds almost knocking me sideways – watching a roof being hastily hammered onto a woolshed and a roll of carpet being cut by chainsaw into a makeshift aisle.

While Mahé and Juliette Drysdale’s wedding definitely didn’t go according to plan, it marked the start of the wonderful relationship the Olympic heroes have had with the Weekly, and now as we celebrate the arrival of their second baby, the beautiful and bonny Boston, I’m struggling to figure out where the years have gone!

The journey down to their cosy farmhouse in the Waikato is something I look forward to. We catch up and chat about their wonderful life together, with Mahé often having to excuse himself to grab another piece of toast or more avocado from the kitchen – the man never seems to get full!

We love bringing you stories about our Kiwi heroes and double-gold medallist Mahé, who just last month won his sixth – yes, sixth – Halberg award, certainly fits the bill. I hope you enjoy reading about the next chapter in his and his gorgeous family’s life. Kelly Bertrand, Assistant Editor, nzww@bauermedia.co.nz
