New Zealand Woman’s Weekly

WEEKLY CONVERSATION

- M Ingle, Dargaville

While reading through a recent Weekly, I came acros s a prize-winning letter by C King of Auckland (06.03.17). What a coincidence, I was born in 1927 and star ted sending articles to the Pixie Pages when I was nine. I had many items printed and we were awarded points for items published. For each 50 points earned, you were awarded a book prize and there was also a lucky dip for earning point s. Many years ago, while visiting friends in Auckland, my mother took me to meet “The Sunshine L ady”. What a lovely person Jean Wishart was! I continued sending pars and poems to Over the Teacups and had many of them illustrated by “Lonsdale”. I have kept all the cuttings of my contributions in an album, which bring s back many memories. I still send contributions to several magazines under my pen name “Mayrene”.
