THEN: Art dealer Oliver Hoare was a friend of Charles who Diana met for the first time at the gym. Sixteen years older than the princess and married, their friendship is believed to have developed into a romantic liaison after her father, Earl Spencer, died in 1992 and Oliver was a source of comfort to her.
Diana’s bodyguard Ken Wharfe revealed he once found a semi-naked Oliver hiding behind a pot plant in a Kensington Palace corridor, smoking a cigar.
The relationship appears to have been short-lived and after it ended, Diana was alleged to have made more than 300 phone calls to his home.
