Amessy transatlantic custody battle is brewing for Scarlett Johansson and former hubby, Frenchman Romain Dauriac, with each gunning for primary physical custody of their two-year-old daughter Rose.

Journalist and businessman Romain (34) is alleged to have become incensed when Scarlett (32) filed for primary parenting rights, despite her camp calling the move a “standard legal procedure”.

Prior to the filing, the pair had allegedly been negotiating potential parenting arrangements.

But according to friends, talks are said to have broken down after Scarlett’s hectic schedule made Romain a “drop-in babysitter”.

The Lost in Translation star refused to be drawn on the battle, saying, “As a devoted mother and private person, and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage.”

However, in another interview, she was happy enough to share her ideas on monogamy, saying it is “not a natural thing”.

idea and the practice of it can be a very beautiful thing,” she said recently. “I don’t think it’s natural to be a monogamous person... it’s a lot of work. And the fact that it is such work for so many people – for everyone – the fact of that proves that it is not a natural thing.

“It’s something I have a lot of respect for and have participated in, but I think it definitely goes against some instinct to look beyond.”
