POLICING the police

HAVE YOU BEEN WRONGED BY A MEMBER OF THE CONSTABULARY?

-

You’re not happy about something that’s happened to you involving a police officer. What can you do short of lodging an official complaint? If you don’t want to make a formal complaint, you can submit an Expression of Dissatisfaction online. Your comments will be forwarded to an officer in charge of the work area involved. That officer is required to address your concerns. If you are elderly and not computersavvy, you can visit or write to the officer in charge of any police station and receive the same attention. I feel duty-bound to also mention that if you have reason to praise or compliment a police officer, there is also an option to submit praise online to the NZ Police website, where you can make sure an officer’s good work is recorded.
