Stealing SCENES

-

When three legendary actors get together for one movie, magic is bound to happen.

For 79-year-old Morgan Freeman, it didn’t take much to convince him to sign on to play Willie Davis in Going in Style.

“I wanted to work with Michael Caine again – and with Alan Arkin, so if they were in it, I had to be there too!”

Michael (84) adds with a laugh, “If Morgan and Alan were in it, then we couldn’t be all wrong!”

The film follows the adventures of three retired friends who decide to take a ride on the wild side by robbing a bank when their pensions are cut off.

“It’s more than a comedy – it’s a very touching story, which is very important to me,” explains Morgan. “You may even shed a tear or two when watching it, but not for long. I like that because real life isn’t just funny, sad, terrible or dangerous, but all of those things at the same time.”

Like their characters, these three gentlemen know how to have a good laugh. When asked about their time shooting in New York City, Alan (83) immediately tells us about one of his favourite highlights.

“I finally got to eat some decent pizza,” jokes the Brooklyn native.

It’s rare to find a movie with all three of the lead characters aged around 80. So have any of the film veterans considered retirement?

“Very few of us actors do retire,” Morgan says with a twinkle in his eye.

It’s clear this won’t be the last time we’ll be seeing these three on the big screen!
