GARDEN PARTY

EVERYTHING WAS ROSY WHEN ROYALS AND STARS RUBBED SHOULDERS AT CHELSEA

Celebs in full bloom at the Chelsea Flower Show

Just two days after her sister Pippa’s lavish wedding, it was back to business for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. The stunning royal returned to her duties, joining the Queen and Prince Philip at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London.

Appropriately for the occasion, Kate (35) wore a floral dress. She was given a formal tour of the grounds with radio presenter Chris Evans (51), stopping to admire the “William and Catherine” rose, which was named in honour of their 2011 nuptials.

The down-to-earth duchess even obeyed the “five-second

rule” by eating a cherry tomato after she dropped it on the floor.

The Cambridges have their own extensive garden and Kate revealed she is hoping royal cuties George (3) and Charlotte (2) will also develop green thumbs. “I’m just getting into gardening with the children. It makes such as difference when you take it from the ground.”

Other royals stopping to smell the roses included Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, plus Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. They rubbed shoulders with celebrities including Rupert Murdoch (86) and wife Jerry Hall (60), who proved their love was still blossoming when Jerry leaned in for a kiss with her media mogul man. Dame Judi Dench (82), Dame Joan Collins (83) and husband Percy Gibson (51) and Bake Off queen Mary Berry (82) also enjoyed the blooms.

Mary had a long chat with the Queen (91) and the Duke of Edinburgh (95) about gardening, and discovered the Queen is revamping the gardens at Frogmore House, beside Windsor Castle, and that Prince Philip is not a fan of cabbage-ofthe-moment, kohl rabi.

She tells, "The duke was asking about kohl rabi, and he reckoned it was a bit wet and not full of flavour – and I think I agree with him.”
